Here's the logo I embroidered on the robe, using gold a silver-black thread. Posted by Hello

This is my Beauxbatons robe, unhemmed obviously. I have NO idea what the fabric is, but it is super soft (almost has a flocked feeling to it) and is very slippery and sheer. A pain to sew. Posted by Hello

This is us having fondue. The camera was sitting on the crooked TV. You can also see my very orange hair. Posted by Hello

Oy, I didn't realize my last post posted so many times. Blogger was behaving badly (oooh alliteration) so I think it published a bunch of times.

This weekend was OK, Ang and I spa-ed it up on Friday night, while watching "What Women Want". This resulted in the unforunate side-effect of my hair being dyed orange instead of strawberry blonde. On Saturday we headed to the mall and got ice cream at the Marble Slab Creamery, and then had fondue while watching "Bridget Jones's Diary". Sunday I went and got my hair fixed at the Raymond-Hennessey Salon in Chinook, so it is now a really wicked reddish-brown. Auburn if you will. I also sewed Elizabeth's apron, now all it requires is for me to whipstitch the waist band down. I am avoiding that because I hate hand-sewing with a passion. Don't worry I promise it'll get done.

I went to the core lab today, and logged a bunch of core, which was actually interesting. Then I came home and Angela and I decided to watch the English Debate, since we're both still deciding who to vote for. It, of course, turned into a cat-fight, in which they all promised 50 million things the won't have time or money to do in office, at which point Angela commented "it was a lot easier when we dealt with piles of furs".

Not too much new, obviously, seeing as I can't um, go anywhere or do anything. I did vacuum (since standing isn't a problem) and dust, I also did a minimal amount of beading. I finished a bracelet I'd been working on for almost a year, and I also started a necklace, but mine is done with silver-lined colourless and transparent black seed beads, and the tear drops are red glass leaves, with a dichroic blue paint on one side. When it's done I'll throw a picture of it up on here. It looks very elvish, what with the silver and the leaves. I could probably wear it with the requiem dress, if I ever get around to making it. Which requires finishing the quilt, apron, costume, pillow and dress I already have the fabric for...........

Still sore...still bored...still at home alone...time to start my very own LOTR marathon. After a shower and some lunch.

Speaking of LOTR, Angela and I are having a farewell/birthday party before I leave for Ontario, anyone who can make it down from Edmonton or up from the south or really from wherever can come (so long as I know you...I don't think many people read this who I DON'T know, but sorry, you can't come ;) We're going to be extremely geeky and make it a hobbit party, seeing as my birthday is only 8 days before Bilbo and Frodo's. And yes, I SHALL give out presents as is tradition for hobbits, but I would not be amiss to having some brought for me too. Once we have details I shall let you all know. I hope you can come!

Here's me in my Beauxbatons outfit. I have another with the cloak. Posted by Hello

You can't tell but it was raining prety hard in the picture. My close up of Darth Vader didn't turn out though, it was really fuzzy. Posted by Hello

Well it's been a long time since I last posted, but life has been VERY busy. I've been working...kind of...I did spend last week at the CSPG conference, learning about new developments in oil and gas, as well as attending the two days of learning about core. On Friday Angela and I went to see Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. My verdict? It was really great, although the werewolf was a little ridiculous looking as well as Wormtail, but I loved the way they portrayed dementors and the way they made it both darker and funnier. I felt much more in touch with all the characters this time. The new style took some getting used to but after "digesting" it I think I really like it. I hope Alfonso makes the rest of the movies! Of course, speaking of the movie Angela and I turned our apartment into a mad sweat-shop this past week frantically sewing up costumes, where she went to the premiere as a Gryffindor student, and I went as a student from Beauxbatons, from (my invented house) Mercure. I drafted a Beauxbatons logo which I embroidered on a robe I made, as well as inventing houses for the school. I fiugred most private schools have houses so Beauxbatons probably would as well. They are named after 4 crucial alchemical metals: Mercure, Or, Argent, and Plomb, aka Mercury, Gold, Silver, and Lead. The house colours respectively are purple/gold, green/gold, navy/grey, and burgundy/grey. The kids at the movie thought we were pretty cool, and there were about 5 other people dressed up as well, a couple kids and a couple adults.

Saturday we went to Prince's Island Park and lounged in the sun, and Sunday I did the MS SuperCities Walk, and I raised $105 in donations! The walk was pretty good, although I got soaked on the way home when it started to rain. One of the walking teams got dressed up after they finished, with four stormtroopers and Darth Vader. Their costumes were AMAZING, I think they must have rented them because they had the proper working lights, and Darth Vader's helmet made the hissing-breathing sound. We spent Monday watching the hockey game and Angela made gingerbread, which brings me to yesterday.

I was carrying a bottle of 10% HCl to use at the core lab on Thursday on the LRT home from work. Unbeknownest (side note: probably incorrect spelling) to me it began to leak and soaked through my backpack and into my shirt/pants. I therefore ended up with some rather nasty acid burns from the small of my back to my thighs, and I'm not supposed to sit - ergo I can't work for the next three days. In the ER Angela and I were discussing my luck with weird accidents, and here's some we came up with:

-broken my nose in a mosh pit
-had my head dashed against a cinder-block wall (more than once)
-broken my wrist 5-pin bowling
-cracked my ribs swing-dancing

I'm sure there's more but at the moment I'm having trouble coming up with them. Consider the fact that I've been in an ER 3 times in less than a month. Not the best track record. Oh well, I'll post some pictures of the guys in Star Wars costumes, as well as Ang and I in HP costumes. Laugh if you must.
