Thoughts of a Canadian University Student

Here's me at a Hallowe'en party in my 'dream dress'. I made it out of two layers, the top is crinkled chiffon and the underlayer is a very light synthetic (no idea what the material is) in the same colour. They are both a very light lilac-periwinkle. I cut the fabric using a woodburning tool so that I wouldn't have to hem it and it looks amazing. The pattern is from alleycatscratch at the bottom of the page. This dress is easiest if you have a friend to help you pin it in place, using safety pins! First we placed the straps and sewed them (and overstitched for strength about 4 times), then I put it on, and pinned it to me in the shape of my body, and drew the seam lines using air-eraseable fabric marker. On one side instead of simply sewing the two sides together I actually sewed in an invisible zipper so that I could get in and out of the dress. You can see the tight seaming in the back picture, as well as my hair jewel (which is Arwen's from the scene with the bridge dress). I also made my ears, using instructions from alleycatscratch again. If you want to make an of the costumes from the Lord of the Rings movies, go here and cruise around! Posted by Hello
